Area Rug Discounts
Your best source for getting the area rug you are looking to purchase without paying anywhere near top dollar. Whether it be an Oriental Hand Made Discount Rugs, or machine made nylon or olefin rug discounts …we can help you purchase the rug of your dreams at the best possible price.
Establish as much information about the rug as possible. Rug manufacturer, Rug Collection, Actual Rug Design Name or Pattern number. If you want to find area rugs discounted then these are the informational factors that will help you shop for the best price. You must first know what it is you are shopping for. Buying Area Rugs Discounted online is difficult without the proper and specific information about the rug. My best suggestion for you is to visit the largest rug retailer/s in your area and look at the rugs in person. It is paramount for you to actually see and feel the area rug you are considering spending hundreds of dollars on. The problem you will have is that the rug retailers will not be very happy if they know you are spending their time looking at their inventory, with the intention of purchasing elsewhere. If you ask directly for the manufacturer name or pattern number, they may give you misinformation about the rug or just altogether lie and say that they only reference the manufacturer SKU.

The truth of the matter is that we all reference rugs by manufacturer, then collection and finally pattern number or name and color. You should look for a tag in one of the corners of the rug on display. You will find all the information there that you need but please be discreet while you gather your "rug intelligence".
Once you know what rug you like, then you need to establish what size rug you need. Important fact to understand is that just like in lumber, where a 2x4 actually measures approximately 1.75" x 3.5"…….the Rug Industry is very similar. What many rug manufacturers refer to as a 6x9 rug….actually measures closer to 5'3" x 7'8". Likewise what a Rug Manufacturer refers to as a 9x12 or 8x11 actually will measure out to be closer to 7'10" x 10'6" so measure your room before you make a purchase.
OK…now you know what rug you want and you know what size you need…then where do you purchase the rug of your dreams? I will reference some very good sites to find great deals on area rugs elsewhere in this article, but first let me say that you can do much of the research through the search engines without too much trouble if you know what information to input. For example, if you find that you are looking to purchase a
Momeni ( manufacturer ) New Wave ( collection ) NW 32 ( pattern ) Multi (color )
…then you could input the search parameters …
Momeni New Wave Collection
Or
Momeni NW32 Multi
Into Google or Yahoo to find sites relevant to those search terms….
OR
You could also visit a site like www.rug-guy.com where you can enter the rug details and the best price you have found on discounted area rugs, and they will most often times beat your best deal on the rug you want. How can they do this? Many rug manufacturers restrict the price that online retailers can advertise the rugs for online in an effort to protect their retailers. This makes perfect sense but that doesn't prevent RUG-GUY.com from taking your information submitted and offering to undercut your source, whether that be a retail brick and mortar store, or even an online retailer. The only limitation of this site is that they offer no shopping and you must already have the information of what rugs you are interested in.
Many online websites are very competitively priced and offer an INCREDIBLE selection of area rugs. These are a few of my favorites.
Again though, these sites are limited by the advertised price restrictions that the manufacturers make online rug retailers adhere to.
Last but not least…..if you are going to make your purchase over the internet, I emplore you to read thoroughly the retailers "return policy". Most online retailers do want to accept back sales…particularly since the products they are selling you are not "In stock" products and are actually drop shipped from the manufacturer. When a return occurs then the online retailer must get it back to the manufacturer, which almost always incurs a "restocking fee". Furthermore, the shipping costs associated with shipping Area Rugs to and from the manufacturer is hefty. It could cost from $40-$100 each way to ship an 8x11 or 10x13 rug. Most times the online retailer is not going to absorb this cost and if you read through the "return policy", you will find that YOU will actually have to have these costs deducted from your refund. Most consumers will be shocked to make a $500 online rug purchase and when it doesn't work out, and necessitates a return….they find they actually qualify for a $250 refund with no product whatsoever.
I hope these tips have been helpful and that you may find some of the links on my page also helpful in your rug shopping endeavor. |
